It has been 5 years yesterday that I came to “Scotch-land”… 5 years back, I wrapped up our life in Bangalore with the help of my mom and came here to join K. 5 years in a country which we now call home.
In these 5 years, we have made new friends, had S, (I) went back to Uni to do my Masters, achieved new heights in our individual work places, bought our first home together… all hunky-dory … well almost.. except for this bloody weather
I think I have lost count of the number of times I have told K why his company couldn’t send him to some warm place like perhaps the Carribeans, Hawaii, Cuba than here… I can almost see myself lying on a beach getting a tan……. But on second thoughts, the amount of weight I have gained in the past years, I think I am glad I am not on a beach in a miniscule swim suit anyways
… Well at least now I am covered in 3 layers of clothing 9 months of a year and can pretend its all wool and not adipose tissue in my midsection… But with the winter, comes the numerous rounds of colds and coughs… as of now, its Round 1 in K household… K and S are down with a bad case of cold and are bundled together off sick from work / school and watching TV …
With the winter approaching the NHS, has also warned about the Swine Flu outbreak again and one of the amusing mails related to that said…
200 people get swine flu and whole world wants to wear surgical mask,
20 million people have AIDS and nobody wants to wear a CONDOM
… Crazy world![]()
This is so the account of my life here too
We too moved here 5 years ago and I can totally identify with everything you have written here
Winters are nearly here and the gloom has started descending
Hopped over from your comment at my blog

Thanks for dropping by…
It’s time to be indoors and get cosy-can’t get more optimistic than that-I too hate winters-the cold, the gloom and the darkness-and always start counting weeks (months?) left for spring
i know… i call the winter months hibernating months.. all i can think of in these months are when to go back home and escape the darkness…
I also dread the approaching winter, mainly for the sickness fears we are bombarded with…Hopefully it will be short just like how short summer was this year
, at least for us it flew by too fast…
do u usually have a short winter?? are winter months are from Oct – Apr.. with the clocks moving 1 hr at the end of the month we will officially enter the winter
..
I hate winters too. Thankfully here in Hyd, we don’t have any! Loved the quote and thanks for dropping by my blog
